HB 2177

House Bill 2177, a measure that creates an incentive for health insurance providers to directly reduce your premium costs. The measure, which was approved by the Legislature and signed by the Governor, will go into effect on September 21, 2006.

GROUP

HB 2177 establishes an incentive for health insurance providers to reduce health insurance premium costs for small businesses and low-income individuals by reducing the amount of premium taxes that the insurance company pays to the State. Small Businesses with two to twenty-five employees that have been in operation for at least one year, and have not provided health insurance in the last 6 months are eligible for the program.

INDIVIDUALS

Arizona resident and been uninsured for at least 6 months, not be currently enrolled in or eligible for AHCCCS, Medicare or any other state or federal health insurance plan and earn LESS THAN 250 percent of the federal proverty level.
  • If you have a family of 1 maximum income earned is $24,499
  • If you have 2 in the family maximum income earned is $32,999
  • If you have 3 in the family maximum income earned is $41,499
  • If you have 4 in the family maximum income earned is $49,999
  • If you have 5 in the family maximum income earned is $58,499
  • If you have 6 in the family maximum income earned is $66,999
If you meet the above criteria, call Gerhart Insurance, 247-5509, and we'll direct you to apply for the Health Insurance Premium Tax Credit beginning on September 21, 2006.

There are stipulations and reporting deadlines. So call.
